Mysuru: Softvision Foundation launched a Smart Class facility recently at Sumana Vidya Kendra, Melahalli, located around 25 kms from the city.
About 200 students studying at the school from Class 1 to Class 9 hailing from Melahalli and nearby villages will benefit from this Smart Class facility.
Girish Karunakaran, Softvision and Daniel Giesen-White, CIO-McMillan Shakespeare (MMSG), Australia (a Client of Softvision), officially launched the facility at the school. The Foundation also provided Computers to the school to help students get hands-on experience with technology.
Inaugurating the Smart Class, Girish Karunakaran said “Our Vision is to empower and transform the lives of the women in rural areas of Mysuru, contributing to the city where Softvision has its largest presence in India; we are committed towards empowering women and educating the girl child. As a step towards this and leveraging on the technology is the smart-class facility; we hope this will support the students in their process of gaining knowledge.”
In its endeavour to support the cause of Girl Child education, the Foundation has sponsored 25 girl students education at Sumana, who were otherwise feared of discontinuing schooling due to lack of funds as they hail from the underprivileged group around Melahalli.
Volunteers from Softvision Foundation and Sumana Vidya Kendra Teachers were present on the occasion.
Softvision Foundation is the CSR Wing of Softvision focusing on the cause of Women Empowerment and Girl Child Education.
