Mysore/Mysuru: Smart classes and mobile technology is not only transforming education in highly paid Private Schools but it is also gradually making inroads in the Government Schools set up in the backward and rural areas. 

In tune with latest technology, the Department of Public Instruction (DPI), Mysuru, has selected 38 Government High Schools in Mysuru District to provide hi-tech learning equipment and projectors. It is being done to convert the Government School classrooms into smart classrooms which would encourage students to learn fast and innovatively with technology.

DDPI Dr. Panduranga told Star of Mysore: “There are 232 High Schools in the District of which 38 Schools that have more number of students, are selected for providing projectors to teach students through smart teaching. The Department has sanctioned Rs.1 crore and it would be spent on providing learning gadgets as well as to convert classrooms into smart ones.

The intention of the State Government is to adopt modern technology in teaching. Installation of projectors in classrooms would help both students and teachers. Teaching Mathematics and Science subjects will be easy through the projectors, the DDPI said.

“Teaching through this new technique will create interest among students. They will grasp subjects too. Process of Government School classrooms becoming hi-tech has started,” he explained.

In a smart class, children are provided with play-way methods of learning which give them an enjoyable experience,” said a teacher. The introduction of innovative teaching methodology and additional teaching tools would enable teachers to provide more inputs for the young learners from primary level.

The smart classroom project is not just about providing supplementary visual content to the students. Rather it is more about making the students smart. Teachers are given training in handling these components and to use the computer and software so that they showed students what they were learning. The use of visual content will help the students’ understanding and improve memory.
