‘Smart phone craze has made WhatsApp indispensable among youths’

August 8, 2019

Mysuru: Maharani’s Science College had organised a function at the college premises on JLB Road here on Tuesday to inaugurate Sports, Cultural and National Service Scheme (NSS) activities of the institution.

Inaugurating the programme, Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports Assistant Director K. Suresh opined that Cultural, Sports and NSS activities among youth helps to build a strong nation.

He expected at least ten students from the college to emerge every year as State and National Sportspersons.

Speaking as the guest of honour, artiste and Founder of Nimishamba School and Dance Sridhar Jain asked students to be honest and build a good personality with confidence.

He observed that craze for smart phones has reached a peak among youth making WhatsApp indispensable owing to addiction to the application which is needed but not essential.

He bemoaned that family bonding has faded now especially with grandparents which should be revived by the parents.

He advised students to stand on their own legs without getting distracted or carried away by suggestions and criticisms of others. He suggested schools and colleges to keep a box to collect very small donations which could be used every year to help a few needy students.

College Principal Shivappa Shanthappa presided. American Institute of Indian Studies (Mysuru) Assistant Professor Dr. Shwetha Madappadi, office-bearers of College Committees and others were present.
