Snail’s pace!

June 6, 2018

As monsoon sets in, most of the works outdoor come to a halt or say, goes on ‘AT A SNAIL’S PACE.’

This idiom finds mention mostly to express how slow the works, especially that of the PWD, go on in and around the city due to incessant rains. But on the contrary, the actual SNAIL is more active and prefers to be out after rainstorms.

REASON: While moving, snails leave behind a trail of slime, a lubricant they produce to allow them to go on any terrain without injuring its body. Hence, the more moist their environment, the less slime they have to secrete. This series of pictures of a snail coming out of its shell was captured by SOM Photographer M.N. Lakshminarayana Yadav.
