Society reeling under jealousy and hatred from the past 10 years: S.G. Vombatkere

December 18, 2023

Mysore/Mysuru: Noted social activist Maj.Gen. (Rtd.) S.G. Vombatkere said that hatred and jealousy in the society has ruled the roost in the past 10 years.

He was speaking after inaugurating a lecture session on the topic ‘Human rights as seen through the eyes of the Constitution’, organised under the joint aegis of Jnana Vignana Samiti, People’s Legal Forum and Rovers – Rangers, at Maharaja High School auditorium on JLB road here on Dec. 10.

Bemoaning that the worth of the Constitution is constantly declining  due to spread of hatred, prejudice and violence in the society, Vombatkere said that the seeds of hatred that was sown 10 years ago has now grown into a  huge tree and it is disgusting to note that we have been pushed into a situation where we have to reap the fruits  of such a tree.

Maintaining that we cannot get freedom and justice until there is a harmonious atmosphere in the country, he said that creating a harmonious atmosphere is vital for peace and brotherhood.

Pointing out that Dec.10 is being celebrated as World Human Rights Day, he said that there should be no violation of human rights in order to make the celebration meaningful. Everyone should respect and follow the constitution, he added.

Maharaja High School Head Master Dr.D. Mahesh, People’s Legal Forum Director Baburaj, Rovers-Rangers convenor Dr. R. Shreene  Nayak and others were present.
