‘Software sector should grow for city’s development’

Mysore/Mysuru: NAREDCO (National Real Estate Development Council) President T.G. Adisheshan Gowda said that the software sector should grow in the interests of Mysuru city.

He was speaking at a discussion on ‘A Vision Brand Mysuru and Greater Mysuru’ organised by NAREDCO at Hotel Southern Star on Vinoba Road here recently.

Pointing out that Mysuru is just 140 kms away from Bengaluru, Adisheshan Gowda said Mysuru has the potential to compete with Bengaluru in respect of location of software companies. Asserting that NAREDCO will give all possible co-operation and support for building ‘Brand Mysuru’, he said that a blueprint has been prepared for execution of 8 projects around the Ring Road. Stressing on the need for promotion of Tourism, Industries, Semi-conductor and Real estate sectors for the growth of Mysuru in keeping with the vision of Brand Mysuru and Greater Mysuru, he said that 2 projects with 10 components are already in progress.

CII, Mysuru  Chairman Sam Cherian said that NAREDCO’s plans are excellent. Maintaining that there is no other place in the world like Mysuru, he said that, however, Mysuru should grow further and faster in respect of all parameters. Stressing on the need for establishment of more software companies, he said attracting investment is vital for the growth of the city. More investment will lead to more opportunities and jobs, he added.

Mysuru  Hotel Owners Association President C. Narayanagowda wanted setting up of a Casino in KRS backwaters. Asserting that about 70 percent of the revenues of Mysuru is generated from the Tourism sector, he said he has appealed the authorities for establishment of night clubs here as in other countries. Noting that many countries are dependent on earnings from night clubs, he said the Tourism Department should come up with innovative plans for giving further boost to Tourism in Mysuru.

CREDAI, Mysuru President Srihari Dwarakanath said that Mysuru has earned National and International name for Yoga. Wanting the authorities to consider setting up of an exclusive Yoga University in Mysuru, he said that Yoga, apart from helping people in maintaining physical and mental health, will also help in attracting a large number of tourists to Mysuru.

Earlier, K.R. MLA T.S. Srivatsa inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp.
