Napoklu: A 19-year-old youth who was on his way to visit his ailing mother was killed in a road accident on Friday while the woman breathed her last at a hospital yesterday.

While deceased youth is Appaji, his mother, who died at the hospital, is Kamala (50), wife of late Raju and a resident of Indiranagar here.

Kamala, who was suffering from illness, was admitted to the District Hospital and her son Appaji, who was on his way to the District Hospital to see his ailing mother was proceeding on Moornad Main Road on his two-wheeler on Friday, when his two-wheeler collided with a car at the Hodawada village curve, killing Appaji.

But his mother, who did not respond to the treatment, succumbed to illness on Sunday.

Last rites were held at Madikeri Burial Grounds.
