Sorry state of Nanjangud Road

July 2, 2018

Sir,

If one wishes to have a glimpse of the hell, come straight to the temple town Nanjangud and take a ride (or even a walk) on the R.P. Road, one of the two ‘Raja Margas’ here.   The Road, haphazardly dug up a couple of years ago on the pretext of repair, still lies as it is, with none concerned showing any interest in its repair.

We hapless citizens hopefully waited for some relief once the Assembly elections that came consecutively (by-election in 2017 followed by the regular elections this May) get over, but no sign of any action till date.   The elected representatives seem busy in their own activities.   The entire stretch starting from Ganesh temple on Ooty Road till culminating at Srikanteshwara temple comprises big potholes, with jelly stones strewn around, rainwater stagnating here and there that breed mosquitoes, and make the movement over it a hellish experience.

Also, the connecting Cross Roads are at considerable height causing untold hardship for motorists either to take a turn on or to join the main road.   The situation becomes still worse at peak hours causing minor accidents here and there.   The parallel Road (MGS Road) is naturally crowded always with added movement of heavy vehicles like buses and lorries.

I appeal to all concerned to look to this civic issue seriously and get the Road done up fast to ensure safe and quick movement.
