Do not shift MRC

July 2, 2018

Sir,

The Mysore Race Club (MRC) is not troubling the people of Mysuru nor the people have any problem from MRC. Even if MRC is shifted and the place converted into a Botanical Garden, which is not required for the time being, it will become a “Lovers Point.”

Moreover, the Government is getting lot of revenue from MRC. Hence, I appeal to S.R. Mahesh, Minister for Tourism and Sericulture, to concentrate on developing other tourist places rather than the Race Course.

Do not disturb the heritage area of mysore off mysore palace towards chamundi hills … the whole place nevertheless speaks of approximately 400 + years of political cultural social history of mysore . conservation should be ur stand of this place than dismantling the existing structures or reshaping them .
mark that race course -beautiful patch topographically as a heritage spot and conserve it .
infact the geographical area from dodda kere maidana down to chamundi hillsis heritage area , with ranis quarters the khas -bangle converted by JC wodeyar into beautiful mysore zoo, and down to karanji kere is green belt area infact of mysore . the karanji kere was public spot also bore within it many a rituals such as teppotasva of goddess ,which had abundant lotus flowers .
water filled dodda kere maidana was part and parcel of mysore palace ,which once reflected mysore palace . have u any idea of rejuvenating this to beautify mysore .
mysore should be looked upon as heritage spot to be conserved with its recent history than a tourist spot . lest u will hamper it .
what ideas do u have to rejuvenate the fallen historical lansdowne building ,formerly beautiful saadhvi thatahaya s park and destroyed fallen admirable famous mysore market .u will have to first take these responsibilities carefully with help of historians and architecture personnel etc .

retain, rejuvenate the antiquity of mysore than disturbing the topography of mysore ; do not hurt the sentiments of natives of mysore .
take ur new projects off these heritage markers .botanical parks could be held anywhere even bangalore , y mess mysore ??by suffocating the MRC with people u are tampering the beautiful view down from devi hills of chamuneshwari !! check on conservation up hills too !!some structures are coming up there blocking the view of chamundi hill gopuram !!rejuvenate taware katte kere which once supplied lotuses to goddess chamundi for pooja , mysore is a well planned city do not hurt its serenity from projects with ur tourist point of view .
