South Zone Inter-University Cricket Tournament for Men 2019-20: Mohammad Anas excels for University of Calicut

Adeadly spell of left-arm spin bowling by E.U. Mohammad Anas (5-0-19-6), helped University of Calicut, to register a facile four-wicket win over Kevempu University, Shivamogga, in their second round match of the South Zone Inter-University Men’s Cricket Tournament 2019-20, conducted by University of Mysore at the JSS Dental College Grounds here on Friday.

Winning the toss and electing to bat, Kuvempu University batsmen fell to the guiles of left-arm spinner Mohammad Anas (six for 19) and were restricted to 118 for nine in 25 overs. S. Mubarak (31) and K. Akash (21) were the main scorers for Kuvempu University.

In reply, University of Calicut scored 122 for six in 19.1 overs and registered a four-wicket win. Rohith R. Krishnan (36) and K.K. Girish Kumar (28 n.o.) were the run-getters for University of Calicut. S. Sachin Kumar took three for 16 for Kuvempu University.

Sathyabama University, Chennai: 116 in 24.2 overs (M. Sagar 2/19, P. Saicharan Yadav 2/28, N. Nagesh 2/17) lost to Rayalaseema University, Kurnool: 117/6 in 21.5 overs (D. Ibrahim 47, R. Chinna Madhu 28, M. Sairam Sathyanarayana 3/21).

Cochin University of Science & Technology, Kochi: 111 in 22.4 overs (Vishal Kumar 32, S. Sonith 4/17, S. Abhishek Harish 3/21) lost to CMR University, Bengaluru: 116/1 in 13.4 overs (M. Sai Sushil Reddy 71 n.o., B.R. Rohan 39).
