South Zone Inter-University Women’s Cricket Tournament – 2025: All-rounder Hassini guides ANU to victory against Thiruvalluvar University

The Day-1 of the South Zone Inter-University Women’s Cricket Tournament witnessed some thrilling encounters across multiple venues  in city yesterday.

In the first match, Acharya Nagarjuna University (ANU) defeated Thiruvalluvar University by 10 wickets in the match played at Maharaja’s College Grounds. Both Neelima and Hassini scalped four wickets each for Nagarajuna University.

Having elected to bat after winning the toss, Thiruvalluvar University were bundled out for a paltry 86 runs in 21.2 overs. In their reply, Acharya Nagarjuna University chased the set target of 87 runs for no loss in just 7.2 overs. Hassini was not out at 42 while Haripriya was also not out scoring 35 runs.

In the other matches, Pondicherry University beat Palamuru University by 36 runs at JSS-SJCE Grounds. Having asked to bat first, Pondicherry University scored 161 for 8 in allotted 25 overs. In reply, Palamuru University managed to score 125 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 25 overs.

Results

 At Maharaja’s  College Grounds: Thiruvalluvar University 86 all out in 21.2 overs (Neelima 4/15, Hassini 4/23) lost to ANU: 87 for no loss in 7.2 overs (Hassini 42 not out, Haripriya 35 not out).

Krishna University 100 all out in 24.4 overs (KYM Vishnu Vardhini 53, Avishna Priya 4/16) lost to SRM University 101 for no loss in 10.1 overs (R. Abarana 52 not out).

At JSS- SJCE Grounds: Pondicherry University 161 for 8 in 25 overs (Amruta 2/20) beat Palamuru University: 125 for 8 in 25 overs (Amrutha Sara 35 runs, R. Abhirame 3/17).

At SDNR Wadiyar Stadium: Bangalore University: 160 all out 10 in 21.4 overs (Reshma Fareed 44) beat TNPSEU 42 all out in 18.3 overs (Amanda 3/11).

At Manasagangothri Grounds:  Bharathiar University 126 for 7 in 25 overs (Swetha 66 not out, Navya 2/22) lost to Andhra University 127 for 4 in 20.2 overs (Mahanthishree 39 runs).
