Sow the wind Reap the whirlwind

September 24, 2019

The philosophy conveying the message of rendering selfless service to fellow human beings amounts to offering prayers and worshipping God is being shared by spiritually oriented public speakers with their captive audiences in congregations comprising mostly elderly citizens, women often outnumbering men. Even as their presence in the land’s population, currently exceeding 135 crore, is a miniscule fraction, there are self-propelled groups and voluntary organisations in all regions of the country, including Mysuru, egging on people to imbibe virtues prompting acts in accordance with the aforementioned philosophy, to whatever extent of shaping the society’s righteous path in life. Satsang being the familiar expression for such congregations, if sections of the land’s diaspora in their impressionable age range are drawn into the proceedings, one may as well expect faster and wider spread of the philosophy, raising hopes of the youth keeping away from and be wary of the country’s politicos calling the shots with money power, muscle power, not to forget their power of power.

The air is abuzz with money matters figuring prominently in the media informing the land’s masses about the newly emerging crorepathies whose profile is an open book, thanks to the vigilant arm of the government exposing their alleged unethical means of amassing wealth in astronomical proportions.

While the many high-net-worth individuals of the country, figuring in the media reports, particularly those who have either founded the enterprises on own steam (like Infosys) or improved business bequeathed to them (like Ambanis, Tatas, TVS) are not only law-abiding but also command societal adoration, the other class of their cash-rich counterparts are facing music by functionaries in the Enforcement Directorate, struggling to come clean in the matter of the source and ways of their allegedly ill-gotten wealth. Saying that the number of fish in the net as it were is only a minor sample of the catch in the ocean is saying the obvious, which none in the public domain questions.

Activities associated with the governance of the country for the overall good of its citizens are accepted in informed circles as the core of politics. The land’s players at large in this business, barring exceptions, cannot hide money they invest in the business and the wealth they command in mind-boggling proportions as the return on investment, perfect example of the proverb Sow the wind, reap the whirlwind.
