Specially-abled students need opportunities: Industrialist R. Guru

January 17, 2023

Mysuru:  City Industrialist R. Guru has suggested the teachers to take keen interest in shaping the career of specially-abled  students, who are in need of opportunities more than sympathy.

In his address at the Annual Day celebrations of Mythri Institute for Mentally Challenged Children, Mysuru, held at Rotary West Auditorium in Saraswathipuram, on Monday, Guru said “Nowadays, educated and eligible disabled students are getting opportunities in industries. If they are provided opportunities to work in various fields, it enables them to shape their future on their own.”

The Institute, run by Mythri Charitable Trust, has been imparting education to disabled students for the past several years. It has helped several such students to shape their future. Parents of these students will be always bothered by the uncertainty about their wards’ future. The co-operation of society and teachers to get rid of these worries is crucial, he said.

As a Lions Club member, Prof. Venkoba Rao has been selected for Melvin Jones Fellowship (MJF) International Award instituted after Lions Founder Melvin Jones. The ‘MJF’ honour was conferred on him by Ln. N.  Krishne Gowda, Ln. N. Subramanya, Ln. K.L. Rajashekar and Ln. K. Devegowda.
