Mysuru: MP Pratap Simha, taking potshots indirectly at the Siddharamaiah Government, said that it was claiming credit for all the programmes of the Central Government by just changing stickers.
He was speaking at the ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas,’ programme, organised by Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. (BSNL), Mysuru, at Kalamandira, here yesterday and said the Centre had released money for all items like rice, wheat, sugar, LED bulbs and equipment related to agriculture activities like pipes and sprinklers. However, the State Government is claiming that it is supporting all these from its funds, he alleged.
When Narendra Modi came to power, his main aim was to strengthen ties with neighbouring countries to counter China. Whoever became the Prime Minister, the practise was to visit bigger nations first, but Modi broke the trend and instead of visiting America, Japan, China, he visited Bhutan.
Since the last 70 years, successive governments, have been practising vote-bank politics and in order to attract voters distributing rice and other commodities freely. However, after Modi came to power, things have changed. When he announced that if the rich forego subsidy on cooking gas it would help to distribute it to rural women freely, 1.10 lakh gave up subsidy on LPG and as a result two crore people are benefited.
After Lal Bahadur Shastri, it is only Narendra Modi who is doing good work in bringing the people together, said Simha admiring the Prime Minister.
One lakh km NH aim: The Modi government has come forward to fund 427 National Highway (NH) projects. In Karnataka, the Centre has given money to Mysuru-Nanjangud-Gundlupet highway project. It is also geared up to release funds for Bengaluru-Bantawal National Highway 275. In all, Rs. 6,000 crore has been set aside for NH projects. Even for Mysuru Outer Ring Road, the Centre had sanctioned Rs. 156 crore. By 2019, the country will have one lakh km of National Highway, he said.
