State JD(S) Chief to sound poll bugle in Chamundeshwari segment tomorrow

November 6, 2017

Mysuru: The JD(S) will launch its campaign for the 2018 Assembly polls from Chamundeshwari Assembly segment in city tomorrow (Nov.7).

JD(S) State President and former CM H.D. Kumaraswamy will kick off the campaign titled ‘Kumara Parva’ after performing puja at Chamundeshwari Temple atop Chamundi Hill and Uttanahalli Jvalamukhi Tripura Sundari Amma Temple tomorrow.

The JD(S), which had taken on Siddharamaiah in an epic electoral battle during the by-election from Chamundeshwari Assembly segment in 2006, selected the Chamundeshwari segment to launch its election campaign this time, in the light of CM Siddharamaiah’s announcement that he would contest the 2018 Assembly polls from Chamundeshwari.

Kumaraswamy will be travelling in a customised bus, costing around Rs.1 crore, during the campaign. As a prelude to the launch of the Nov. 7 campaign, Chamundeshwari JD(S) MLA G.T. Devegowda (GTD) took out a bike rally in city yesterday.

Speaking to press persons on the occasion, GTD expressed confidence that the people of the State will bring JD(S) back to power. Taking potshots at Siddharamaiah’s recent statement that Modi was scared of him (Siddu), GTD sarcastically said that the CM was targeting the PM’s post in 2019 Lok Sabha polls and thus he (CM) had made the remark targeting Modi.

Reiterating that the CM had set his eyes on the PM’s post as the Congress High Command had become very weak, the JD(S) MLA claimed that AICC Vice-President Rahul Gandhi had no strength to have control over Siddharamaiah who has taken full command of the Congress in Karnataka.
