State-level Convention of Senior & Young Music Scholars in city from tomorrow

Mysuru: Karnataka Ganakala Parishat, Bengaluru and Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Ashrama, Mysuru, have jointly organised State-level Conventions of Senior and Young Music Scholars at Nada Mantapa in the Ashrama  premises on Ooty Road in city from Oct. 4 to 8. The event has been organised as part of 75th Vardhanti  of Sri Ganapathy Swamiji.

The 48th Convention of Senior Music Scholars will be chaired by Vidu. T.S. Vasanthamadhavi while the 30th Convention of Young Music Scholars will be chaired by Vid. B.C. Manjunath.

Oct. 4: 9 am: Mangalavadya by Vid. R. Rangaswamy & Vid. R. Sridhar (Nadaswara) and Vid. S. Puttaraju & Vid. P. Vinay (Dolu).

10.30 am: Inauguration; Goshti Gayana by the students of KSGH Music and Performing Arts University; Sri Ganapathy Swamiji will grace the occasion. Kannada and Culture Minister Umashree, former MLC G. Madhusudan, Ganakala Bhushana Vid. Dr. K. Vageesh and Ganakala Sri Vid. T.S. Pattabhirama Pandit will be the chief guests.

4.45 pm to 6.45 pm: Vocal recital by Vidu. T.S. Vasanthamadhavi accompanied by Ganakala Sri Vidu. Nalina Mohan on violin, Vid. N. Vasudeva on mridanga and Vidu. Sukanya Ramagopal on ghata.

7 pm to 9 pm: Nadaswara by Vid. S. Kasim and Vid. S. Babu; Dolu by Vid. Udumalpet M. Anguswamy and Vid. M. Vijay Kumar.

Oct. 5 – 10 am to 10.20 am: Prayer by disciples of Vidu. Dr. R.N. Srilatha.

10.30 am: Vidwat Goshti – Inauguration by Music University VC Dr. Sarvamangala Shankar.

10.45 am to 11.30 am: Documentary on ‘Prof. V. Rajaratnam’s works’ by Vid. Dr. C.A. Sridhar.

11.45 am to 12.30 pm: Documentary on ‘Simhanandanataala Pallavi’ by Vidu. Veena Mohan, Bengaluru.

12.45 pm to 1.30 pm:  Documentary on ‘Mridanga Madhurya’ by Vid. B.C. Manjunath.

4.45 pm to 6.45 pm: Vocal recital by Vid. S. Sakethraman accompanied by Ganakalasri Vid. H.K. Venkatram on violin, Vid. K.U. Jayachandra Rao on mridanga and Vid. G. Guruprasanna on khanjira.

7 pm to 9 pm: Veena recital by Ganakala Sri Vid. D. Balakrishna accompanied by Vid. V. Vamshidhar on flute, Ganakala Bhushana Vid. C. Cheluvaraj on mridanga and Ganakala Kasthuri Vid. G.S. Ramanujan on ghata.

Oct. 6 – 10 am to 10.20 am: Prayer by students of Surabhi Ganakala Mandira, Mysuru.

10.30 am to 11.15 am: Talk on ‘Mysuru – A Cultural Capital’ by Dr. N.S. Rangaraju, Mysuru.

11.15 am to 12 noon: Documentary on ‘Karnatak Music and Western Classical Music’ by Vid. Dr. Mysore M. Manjunath.

12.15 pm to 1 pm: Documentary on ‘Classical Works of Sri Ganapathy Swamiji’ by Vidu. Chaithra Varanasi – Vidu. Shashwati Jagadish, Sanmathi Varanasi and troupe.

5 pm to 7 pm: Violin duet by Mysore N. Karthik and Mysore M. Sumanth, accompanied by Vid. B.C. Manjunath on mridanga and Vid. U.N. Giridhar Udupa on ghata.

7.15 pm to 9.15 pm: Vocal recital by Ganakala Bhushana Vidu. R.A. Ramamani accompanied by Vid. C.N. Chandrashekar on violin, Vid. Tumkur B. Ravishankar on mridanga and Vid. S. Srishailan on ghata.

Oct. 7 – 10 am to 10.20 am: Prayer by disciples of Vidu. Koviladi R. Kala.

10.30 am to 11.15 am: Documentary on ‘Veena Vaibhava’ by Dr. S. Vijayaraghavan.

11.30 am to 12 noon: Documentary on ‘Sri Tyagaraja Utsava tradition and Divyanama Keerthane’ by Vidu. Ranjani Vasuki.

12.15 pm to 12.45 pm: Documentary on ‘Raaga Rasaanubhava’ – Chayagowla, Thakka, Paadi, Aardradeshi, Megharanjani’ by Vidu. T.S. Vasanthamadhavi.

4.45 pm to 6.45 pm: Vocal recital by Vid. S. Prashanth Hemmige accompanied by Vidu. Charulatha Ramanujam on violin, Vid. B.R. Srinivas on mridanga and Vid. G. Omkarrao on ghata.

7 pm to 9 pm: ‘Divya Sangeetha’ by Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji.

Oct. 8 – 9.30 am: Procession and valedictory – Sri Ganapathy Swamiji will grace the occasion. Large and Medium Scale Industries Minister R.V. Deshpande will be the chief guest.

5 pm to 7 pm: Vocal recital by Vidu. M.R. Sudha accompanied by Vid. H.V. Raghuram on violin, Vid. H.L. Shivashankaraswamy on mridanga and Vid. V.S. Ramesh on morching.

7.15 pm to 9.15 pm: Vocal recital by Vid. Manasa Nayana accompanied by Vid. C.N. Tyagarajan on violin, Vid. A. Radhesh on mridanga and Vid. S. Manjunath on ghata.
