State-level Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar Jayanti celebrations on June 4

May 24, 2026

Mysore/Mysuru: The District Administration will celebrate State-level Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar Jayanti (Nalwadi Jayanthyotsava) at Kalamandira here on June 4, said Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) R. Aishwarya.

Presiding over a preparatory meeting at the DC Office on Thursday, she said, “Nalwadi is an iconic ruler of Mysuru, who made innumerable contributions for the growth and economic prosperity of the State and welfare of the people. It is important that the contributions of the erstwhile ruler reach every citizen. In this backdrop, his Jayanti should be celebrated in a meaningful manner.

Aishwarya also appealed the people to take part in the celebration in large numbers.

“Ahead of the stage programme at Kalamandira, a grand procession will be taken out from the Palace after garlanding  the portrait of Nalwadi in front of Lakshminarayanaswamy temple in the Palace premises. The procession will be accompanied by Mounted Police, Police Band and a host of folk and cultural troupes,” she said.

Continuing, she said that Nalwadi Geethagayana will be organised as part of the event. Also, there will be painting, quiz and essay writing contests for children in two different categories — 7 to 14 years and 15 to 18 years. The winners of these contests will be given prizes during the Jayanti celebration on June 4, she explained.

Directing the authorities to ensure drinking water supply and breakfast to procession participants, she said that the Police must make necessary security arrangements for the event.

Representatives of  various associations, who took part in the meeting, appealed the authorities to screen a documentary on Nalwadi at prominent  circles and junctions across the city and in Schools and Colleges. They also demanded that the Jayanti be celebrated at Gram Panchayat level.
