Mysore/Mysuru: The 5th State-level Convention of newspaper distributors, organised under the joint aegis of Karnataka State Newspaper Distributors Federation and Newspaper Distributors Welfare Association, will be held in Mysuru on Aug. 28.
Announcing this at a press meet at Pathrakartara Bhavan in city yesterday, Federation President K. Shambhulinga said CM Siddaramaiah will inaugurate the Convention at KSOU Convocation Hall on Hunsur Road at 11.30 am on Aug. 28 in the gracious presence of Suttur Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji and Avadhoota Datta Peetham Seer Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji.
Dy.CM D.K. Shivakumar, District Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa, Labour Minister Santosh Lad, MPs Yaduveer Wadiyar and Sunil Bose, CM’s Media Advisor K.V. Prabhakar, Convention Chairman M.N. Nagaraj, several Legislators and others will be present.

Karnataka Union of Working Journalists (KUWJ) State President Shivananda Tagadur, State Gen. Secretary G.C. Lokesh, Mysuru District Journalists Association (MDJA) President K. Deepak, Past Presidents S.T. Ravikumar and C.K. Mahendra, MDJA Gen. Secretary Dharmapura Narayan, former Gen. Secretary M. Subramanya, State Committee Member B. Raghavendra and others will also attend.
Shambhulinga further said that 50 talented students and 6 newspaper readers will be felicitated on the occasion. Prior to the inauguration, the statue of Kuvempu will be garlanded, he said and added that the attention of the Government will be sought to the demands of the Association, which include re-establishment of Newspaper Distributors Welfare Fund, Karnataka Media Academy Membership, minimum pension of Rs. 5,000 to newspaper distributors aged over 60 years, setting up of Newspaper Distribution Centre at the space behind CADA office on Sayyaji Rao Road and allotment of a CA site by MDA, among others.
