Yadavagiri used to be one of the quieter residential localities in Mysuru known for its tranquillity and serenity. Of late, Vivekananda Road (once upon a time a boulevard) is being frequented by movie-makers for film-shooting much to the agony of the residents who have to bear the brunt of it.

In the last fortnight alone,  this road has been invaded by a film shooting unit for four consecutive days (29th of last month to 2nd of July) leaving residents in the lurch as they had to put up with obstructions to both vehicular and pedestrian traffic, not to speak of noise pollution and worse.

As though that were not bad enough, the same shooting unit once again landed here this morning causing not only traffic obstruction but also noise pollution as a public address system was used at full blast throughout the day. The amplified sound of vocal and instrumental music exceeded the decibel limits in residential areas.

 When contacted, the jurisdictional Police did nothing to stop the same. This is not the first time that the law enforcement authorities have shrugged off their responsibility. As a matter of fact, not less than a dozen complaints have been made since October, 2017 but to no avail.

The apathy of the law enforcement authorities is only matched by the callousness and insensitivity of the film-shooting crew to the woes of the residents. They don’t give a damn to the fact that even ailing octogenarians are adversely impacted by the noise and disturbance.

I therefore request the law enforcement authorities and the Commissioner of Police and his Deputies to take serious note of these problems and stop film shooting in residential areas in public interest.
