Mysore/Mysuru: Even as the authorities are making efforts to end street dog menace in the city, the attack on sheep by street dogs is on the rise at Huyilalu village in the outskirts of the city.
Gram Panchayat member Ramesh told Star of Mysore that dog attacks on sheep is on the rise in the village. Noting that dogs are even attacking sheep tied in shelters, he said that dogs are attacking even shepherds who are returning home after taking the sheep to farms for grazing.
Maintaining that nearly 200 sheep have been bitten by stray dogs in the village in the past 3 months, Ramesh said that this has resulted in huge loss for sheep rearers.
Pointing out that several complaints in this regard to the PDO have proved futile as no action has been taken, he said that the people of the village are scared of being bitten by dogs whenever they venture out. The villagers are living in a sense of fear, he said and urged the authorities to take immediate action for ending street dog menace.
