Mysuru: Former Mysuru Deputy Commissioner (DC) D. Randeep, who handed over charge to the new DC K.B. Sivakumar on Mar.13, is awaiting his posting. However, one thing he is very clear is, he is not going to leave behind his pets Lily and its pups Browny, Chubby and Spotty.
He has decided to take these dogs wherever he goes and is making all arrangements to transfer them. Speaking to Star of Mysore here yesterday, he said, “My family and I are really attached to the dogs and we cannot think of leaving them behind. The first time when I decided to leave them in Vijayapura from where I was transferred to Mysuru, all the four went into depression. The Veterinary Doctor advised me to bring them here and now they are really happy with us.”
It may be recalled that Lily was a stray dog that had entered the lives of Randeep and his family in Vijayapura. Then it had littered twice and gave birth to 12 pups out of which he retained three and the rest were given away to dog-lovers for adoption through advertisements in newspapers.
Randeep’s wife Arpitha told Star of Mysore, “Every morning and night we take care of the dogs and they are like members of our family. All of us are very attached to them. Both my husband and I strongly feel that having pets, especially community dogs, which do not demand too much, is a real stress-buster. We will definitely take them wherever we go, especially after the experience we had for the first time when we left them behind.”
Randeep reiterated, “In these nearly two years I have learnt so much from them. Their total trust and faith in me, moves me. Unlike humans, these animals do not betray us.”
