Mysore/Mysuru: Two students, who were in possession of lethal weapons, have been arrested by Kuvempunagar Police, who have seized two machetes (long) and a car besides registering cases against seven persons.

Those arrested are 25-year-old Samarth, a MBA student and a resident of Ramakrishnanagar ‘D’ Block and 19-year-old Utsav, a BE student and a resident of Giridarshini Layout in city. Police have also registered cases against their friends identified as Rahul, Darshan, Manoj, Abhi and Fardeen. Police said that the accused, in a bid to threaten one Shashank, had kept the lethal weapons in the car and were waiting for him (Shashank).

Yesterday afternoon, Kuvempunagar Sub-Inspector S.P. Gopal and staff, were on their regular beat near Kuvempunagar Complex when they received information that a group of youths were found standing in a suspicious manner along with a car in front of a wine store at Nimishambha Nagar.

When the Police reached the spot, they saw a Volkswagen Polo car parked in front of the wine store and a few youths standing near it. The youths, on seeing the Police vehicle, began to flee from the spot and the Police managed to catch Samarth and Utsav. The Cops found two ‘longs’ in the car

During interrogation, the Police came to know that Shashank had abused Samarth over the phone and the youths had come near the wine store to threaten Shashank. Kuvempunagar Police, who have registered a case against the youths under The Arms Act are investigating.
