Mysore/Mysuru: Stressing on the need for students to set their life goals and work towards fulfilling them, Prof. S.R. Niranjana, Vice-Chairman of Karnataka State Higher Education Council, Bengaluru, said that the students should utilise the facilities provided by the Government in the most useful manner.

He was speaking after inaugurating ‘Deeksharambh,’ a PG (Post-Graduate) Student Induction Programme (2023-24) at JSS College of Arts, Commerce and Science, on Ooty Road here yesterday.

Stating that teachers have the responsibility of responding to the thoughts and ideas of students, he reiterated that students can be successful in life if they set goal for themselves.

Noting that PG students are already graduates and have a level of responsibility, he cautioned the students against belittling any course as each course has its own standing.

Pointing out that about 18 lakh students of the country are expected to fly abroad for higher education, Prof. Niranjana said that students must always update their knowledge and be ready to face challenges in their chosen profession. Regretting that most of the candidates, who pass KAS, are lacking in general knowledge, he said that it is interesting to note that technical graduates are looking at jobs in the commercial and business sector such as Banks and other Financial Institutions.

“The country has made great strides in medicine, vaccine, food production and the like. Apart from academics, the students should also have knowledge about current affairs of the country,” he said while calling upon the students to acquire the latest skills needed for excellence in their profession.

JSS Mahavidyapeetha College Education Division Director Prof. R. Mugeshappa, Chief Executive Prof. B.V. Sambashivaiah, Principal Dr. S. Prathibha, faculty Dr. Kumudini Achchi and others were present.
