‘Sudharma’ Editor Jayalakshmi to be felicitated tomorrow

Mysore/Mysuru: Padma Shri Awardee and the city’s Sudharma Sanskrit Daily Editor K.S. Jayalakshmi Sampath Kumar will be felicitated at a programme to be organised under the joint aegis of Sri Ramanuja Abhyudaya Co-operative Society and Nagarika Abhinandana Samiti at Neramballi Savithramma Subbarao Convention Hall near BSNL Office in Lakshmipuram, at 4.30 pm tomorrow (Dec. 29).

Announcing this at a press meet here yesterday, MUDA Chairman H.V. Rajeev said Sudharma is the only Sandkrit Daily in the country published since decades. Pointing out that Sampath Kumar and Jayalakshmi couple were awarded the prestigious Padma Shri award last year, Rajeev said that the couple could not be conferred the award last year due to COVID pandemic. In the meantime, Sampath Kumar passed away and Jayalakshmi was conferred the award by Government of India recently. Now, the Co-operative Society and Abhinandana Samiti will be felicitating her tomorrow, he said adding that senior Journalist Dr. H.V. Nagaraja Rao will deliver the felicitation address. Suttur Mutt Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji, Melukote Yathiraja Mutt Seer Sri Yaduguri Yathiraja Narayana Swamiji and the city’s Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Ashram Junior Pontiff Sri Datta Vijayananda Theertha Swamiji will grace the occasion. Karnataka Sanskrit University Vice-Chancellor Prof. K.E. Devanathan, MP Pratap Simha, MLAs S.A. Ramdas, L. Nagendra and G.T. Devegowda, Mayor Sunanda Palanetra and others will take part, he further said.

Society President H.V.L.N. Acharya, Directors Rajgopal, Yoganarasimhan, Puttaswamy, Shantaram, Yathiraju and Vikram Iyengar were present at the press meet.
