Sunil Bose is Congress candidate for Chamarajanagar LS seat

March 28, 2024

Official announcement today

Mysore/Mysuru: Even before the Congress High Command officially announced the name of the party candidate for Chamarajanagar (SC) seat, the date for filing of nomination of Congress candidate from Chamarajanagar LS Constituency has been fixed as Apr. 3.

However, the official announcement of Sunil Bose as the candidate will be made today. Former Kollegal MLA G.N. Nanjundaswamy was another strong contender for the seat.

Though the Congress is yet to officially announce the name of Sunil Bose, son of Mysuru District In-charge Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa, as the party candidate for Chamarajanagar seat, the Mysuru District Congress Committee (DCC) in a notification issued on Tuesday, mentioned Sunil Bose as the party candidate and the campaigning started on Wednesday.

The schedule of the meetings has been listed by DCC President Dr. B.J. Vijaykumar. The notification states that the schedule has been fixed with prior permission of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, who is also the KPCC President.

The notification further said that Mysuru-Kodagu LS Constituency Congress candidate M. Lakshmana too will file his nomination papers in Mysuru on the same date, Apr. 3.

Bose had planned to contest from his father Dr. Mahadevappa’s T. Narasipur (SC) Assembly segment in the May 2023 polls, while Dr. Mahadevappa himself had planned to contest from neighbouring Nanjangud Assembly segment.

However, former Chamarajanagar MP R. Dhruvanarayan, another strong aspirant for the Nanjangud seat, passed away suddenly in the run up to the polls, when the Congress announced the candidature of late Dhruvaranayan’s elder son Darshan Dhruvanarayan for the seat.

Dr. Mahadevappa then contested from his T. Narasipur seat, which kept his son Sunil Bose’s wait longer.

Now his wait has come to an end and Sunil Bose has got the chance to contest the LS polls as the Congress candidate from Chamarajanagar (SC) seat, currently held by former Union Minister V. Sreenivasa Prasad of the BJP.
