Mysore/Mysuru: South Western Railway (SWR) Mysuru Division had organised Anti-Terrorism Day on May 21 to wean away youth from terrorism and the cult of violence by highlighting the sufferings of common people and showing as to how it is prejudicial to the national interest.
As part of the programme, Rahul Agarwal, Divisional Railway Manager, administered a pledge at the Divisional Office. Devasahayam Akasi, Additional Divisional Railway Manager- I and B. Srinivasulu, Additional Divisional Railway Manager- II, attended the function with minimum participation as per the directives of the Ministry of Health in view of COVID-19 pandemic.
The pledge was taken at respective offices of all the Branches, Sections and Depots of the Division. The oath urged to uphold and promote peace, social harmony and understanding among all fellow human beings and fight the forces of disruption threatening human lives and values.
Anti-Terrorism Day is observed every year on May 21, the death anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi who, on this day in 1991, was assassinated by terrorists while campaigning for Congress party at Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu.
