Train service will cater to farmers and traders from Mysuru, Mandya, Hassan and other districts to carry perishable supplies to distant regions
Mysore/Mysuru: With a step towards doubling the farmers income in the coming years, South Western Railway (SWR) is running a weekly service of Kisan Rail Special from Sept. 19 to Oct. 22 (5 trips). The Kisan Rail will depart KSR Bengaluru on every Saturday at 16.45 hrs and reach Nizamuddin on Monday at 23.45 hrs covering a total distance of 2,762 kms in 55 hrs on a single trip.
Enroute, the train will have schedule halt for loading/unloading at Mysuru, Hassan, Arsikere, Davangere, Hubballi, Londa, Belagavi, Miraj, Pune, Manmad, Bhusaval, Itarsi, Bhopal, Jhansi, Agra Cant. and Mathura stations. In return direction, the train will depart Hazrat Nizamuddin on every Tuesday 11.00 hrs and reach Bengaluru at 19.45 hrs on Thursday with same stoppages for loading/unloading.
The Kisan Rail Train service will cater to the requirements of farmers and traders from Mandya, Mysuru, Hassan, Chikkamagalur, Kadur, Davangere, Tumkur, Hubballi, Haveri and other districts for carrying their perishable supplies to distant regions in a time bound mode and expect a seamless nationwide supply chain.
Small farmers or traders can book their consignments in this train, without any lower limit on the size of consignment and can be booked from any stopping station to any other stopping station enroute this train.
The special train will have a composition of 10 high capacity parcel van and 2 brake van which can carry up to 23 tonnes of goods in each parcel van with a total carrying capacity of 238 tonnes. The train’s freight will be charged as per Indian Railways’ parcel tariff of normal train (P Scale).
This is only the third such multi-commodity service train being operated in the country. Farmers and traders are requested to make optimal use of the services of this Kisan Rail special.
