Mysuru, Mandya: The Mysuru and Mandya Police have stepped up vigil at all tourist destinations following intelligence reports of a possible terror attack by militants who have come from Kashmir.
“We have stepped up vigil at Krishna Raja Sagar (KRS) Dam and vital tourist destinations in Mandya,” said Mandya Superintendent of Police G. Radhika. Mysuru City Police Commissioner Dr. A. Subrahmanyeswara Rao said that though the city Police have not received specific instructions from the State Police Headquarters in Bengaluru, they are on high alert. “We are even ready to provide additional forces in case of emergencies,” he told Star of Mysore.
According to intelligence reports and inputs from the Centre, a group of terrorists have come from Kashmir to disrupt peace in Karnataka, especially in Bengaluru and Mysuru. Following the inputs, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP Law and Order) Kamal Pant has faxed an advisory to all Police units in districts asking the personnel to be on high alert.
The alert notice has been sent to all Commissionerates, Superintendents of Police and Railway Police Headquarters. As per the contents in the notice, the Police must step up vigil and round off any suspicious elements moving around tourist destinations.
The Police have been asked to keep a close watch on public places, malls, hotels, guest houses, temples, Railway Stations and Airports.
Mandya SP Radhika told SOM that they have taken the intelligence inputs seriously and have increased surveillance at KRS. “We have over 150 Central Industrial Security Force personnel who guard the KRS. This apart, we have a Special Sabotage Check Team that will visit sensitive places. Usually, the team inspects KRS once a week. But now, we have increased the frequency on a day-to-day basis,” she said.
Apart from Special Sabotage Check Team, the Police will deploy dog squad and bomb squad and night patrolling will be increased, she said and added that a 20-member mobile inspection team has been constituted to frequently inspect tourist destinations.
Subrahmanyeswara Rao said special attention will be given to tourist destinations like Mysore Palace, Chamundi Temple, Jaganmohan Palace and other monuments.
“We now have an exclusive Special Commando Force (see report on page 18) that will exclusively deal with terror strikes. We are also ready to mobilise forces in case of emergencies,” he added.
I’m sorry to say but how can 8-9 stick wielding policeman stop possible terrorists? We all know if an attack was to happen they would come with automatic weapons as a minimum. What we need is a high sandbag and metal reinforced point with commando police in place.
Kashmiri terrorists are predominantly Muslims! So, we have a state government waiting to make it a communal issue if any of them are even arrested or questioned by the center! Also those psedo Seculars who had nothing to do since Gauri Lankesh murder, this will be a golden opportunity! Center should clearly provide the intelligence to state and let them decide how they want to handle the “Guests” as per the institution from high command!
If they blow up KRS dam. Does that mean that TN water dispute will be solved? Poor Modya farmers! Of poor in future.. Literally!
