Three meet watery grave

Mandya: Three youths, who had gone for a swim at a lake in Mangala village in Mandya yesterday afternoon, have been drowned. The deceased youths are Chandan, Arjun and another youth.

A group of six youths from Halahalli Ashoka Nagar in Mandya had gone to the lake for a swim out of which four youths ventured into the lake for a swim. As the lake was deep following sand mining, three youths were drowned.

Fire and Emergency Service personnel, who rushed to the spot on receiving information, managed to fish out the bodies of Chandan and Arjun and have launched an operation to trace and fish out the body of another with the help of expert swimmers.

Mandya Rural Police have registered a case in this regard.
