‘Thulabhara’ performed on Sri Vadiraja Mutt Seer

Mysuru: – On the concluding day of ‘Bhavasameera Sri Vadiraja Vaibhavam’ Music Festival, organised by Haridasa Sangeetha Sahityotsava Samiti at Sarada Vilas Centenary Hall in Krishnamurthypuram here on Friday,

‘Thulabhara’ against coins was performed on Sode Sri Vadiraja Mutt Seer Sri Vishwavallabha Theertha Swamiji by the devotees.

Speaking on the occasion, Senior Scholar Dr. C.H. Srinivasamurthy Acharya said that Vadiraja has contributed immensely to literature in all its variants. He recalled that Vadiraja was born to Ramacharya and Saraswathi Devi in the 15th century at Hoovinakere village in Udupi district.

Named initially as Bhoovaraha, Vadiraja became a Sanyasi at the tender age of eight and went on to contribute to literary sector in Kannada and Sanskrit. He added that Vadiraja had composed over 300 ‘keerthanas.’ Scholar Vijayendra Theertha and P. Sheshagiri Acharya were present.
