Thyagaraja Sangeetha Sabha to present Navavarana Krithis from tomorrow

October 15, 2020

Mysore/Mysuru: The Kamalamba Navavarana Kritis composed by Shri Muthuswami Dikshitar are among the most precious treasures in Karnatak classical music. These are set in praise of Goddess Kamalamba of Tiruvarur, representing the Divine Mother of the Universe and are based on Advaitic School of Vedanta, Srividya Upasana and the elements of Tantric rituals.

These outstanding compositions, intellectually woven in deep devotion of Mother Goddess are testimony to the mastery over musical and lyrical skills and Sanskrit language of Deekshitar and his dedication to Sri Vidya, Sri Chakra and worship of its avaranas. There are nine such krithis and traditionally they are rendered with a dhyana krithi (invocation) in the beginning and a mangala krithi at the end.

Sri Thyagaraja Sangeetha Sabha Charitable Trust, Mysuru, will be premiering a Navavarana Krithi daily at 7.30 am during Navarathri festival starting from Oct. 16 on its Facebook page at Sri Thyagaraja Sangeetha Sabha Charitable Trust, Mysore.
