Tiger-Leopard menace at villages bordering Bandipur Forest

July 5, 2019

Gundlupet: Villagers of Hundipura, Triyambhakapura, Kaggala and surrounding villages bordering Bandipur Tiger Reserve are living in a sense of fear and have also lost a few of their livestock to tigers and leopards.

A tiger has killed a cow belonging to Kariaiah of Hundipura village which was tied in the cow shed. Though the Forest Department had place a cage to trap the tiger, the tiger has not fallen into the trap causing fear among the villagers.

This apart, a leopard has attacked a cow belonging to Satish at Triyambhakapura and has injured it severely near its thigh and a tiger was sighted at the agricultural field of Nagendrappa at Kaggala village, following which Buffer Zone Forest Officer Rajesh conducted a combing operation to trap the tiger but in vain.

The officer has assured of placing a cage to trap the tiger if it is sighted again.
