Mysuru, June 2 (MTY&BS)- Chairman of State Legislative Council Basavaraj Horatti has said, time is ripe for the journalists to write about bitter truth.

He was speaking after releasing the book ‘Sadhaneya Shikaragalu,’ a collection of articles of senior journalist Kudli Gururaj, organised by Bharati Prakashana, at Mini Theatre in Kalamandira premises here yesterday.

Horatti said, the media has its own significance and should resolve towards bringing reforms in the society. The media has also transformed along with the time and so also the field of politics. The cream of politicians, journalists and the people, who existed then, have gone extinct. However, it’s media that informs people about the activities of Legislative, Executive and Judiciary, considered as the three pillars. Hence, the journalists shoulder enhanced responsibility and time has come to write the bitter truth.

“It is laudable that, the journalists vouch to write and unearth the truth, ignoring the pulls and pressure from their owners of media houses,” said Horatti. Horatti appreciated the way acting CM Siddaramaiah, stepped down from the office to allow smooth transition of power, setting a rare precedent in the country.

Author and journalist Prakash Babu spoke about the book. MLC K. Shivakumar, journalist Madan Gowda, KUWJ President Shivanand Tagadur and B.N. Srinivas of Bharati Prakashana were present.
