Mysore/Mysuru: Fire was reported in three to four places in city yesterday and swift action by the Fire and Emergency Services Department prevent major fire mishaps from taking place.
An accidental fire to dry grass at a vacant place in Hebbal Industrial Area resulted in dry leaves catching fire and swift action by the Fire staff prevented fire from spreading further. Meanwhile, tension prevailed for some time near Vijayanagar Water Tank as fire was noticed at an ATM. Also, panic gripped the residents of Sharadadevi Nagar following LPG leakage. Fire staff arrived and prevented any untoward incident from taking place.
At Dadadahalli in Jayapura hobli, sugarcane crops belonging to a farmer caught fire and the flames soon spread to other sides.
As power was switched off, farmers used a generator to pump water and were dousing the fire, when Fire staff arrived and took control. A few coconut trees and sugarcane crops were destroyed in the fire.
Meanwhile, fire was reported at three to four places on Saturday in city and at two places, Fire staff had to conduct the operation for an entire day to douse the fire.
Fire was reported at a cardboard manufacturing unit at Hebbal Industrial Area resulting in a large quantity of cardboard stocked in the premises catching fire and the Fire staff had to use eight fire extinguishing vehicles to douse the fire. As fire was not completely doused, Fire staff continued their operation till yesterday afternoon and managed to extinguish the fire completely, said District Fire Officer H. Raju.
Do not light fire to dry grass or leaves as many living things including snakes and insects die. Dry leaves turn into manure during rainy season, which helps provide nutrients to plants and trees. Every living being has the right to live, do not forget it, said Snake Shyam, snake rescuer.
