Autobiography ‘Sarthaka Baduku’ by Cadabam M. Ramesh released at JCAC in city
Mysore/Mysuru: The autobiography ‘Sarthaka Baduku’ by Cadabam M. Ramesh was released at an event held at Jagannatha Centre for Art and Culture (JCAC) in Vijayanagar recently.
The book was released by Suttur Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji at the event organised by the Cadabam’s Group. Addressing the gathering, the Seer expressed concern over the increasing cases of depression and the lack of timely treatment for those affected.
“Many people suffering from depression are not getting proper care in time, and this is leading to tragic suicides,” he said, referring to recent incidents involving a youth who allegedly jumped from a building due to severe headache and a college student who died by suicide after struggling with hostel life and depression.
He said JSS institutions are training teachers to identify students showing signs of depression and provide counselling and emotional support. Similar initiatives are also planned in rural schools, he added.
JSS, along with Cadabam’s Group, is working towards providing quality psychiatric treatment and rehabilitation services to help patients reintegrate into society. “In today’s world, where even parents are often neglected, remembering and valuing those who support us reflects Indian culture,” he said.
Former MLA S.A. Ramdas stressed the need for awareness and prevention alongside treatment. “We must understand why mental illness cases are increasing and work towards prevention. Outreach programmes should begin in Mysuru within the next six months,” he said.
Mysuru-Kodagu MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar said mental health continues to remain one of the most neglected areas in the country. “Ancient Indian traditions had remedies and practices to address such conditions. Reviving that knowledge is important even today,” he said.
Former Mayor H.N. Srikantaiah, Karur Vysya Bank Director M.V. Srinivasamurthy, Rita from Belagavi, author and Cadabam’s Group Chairman M. Ramesh, his sons Sandesh Cadabam and Shreyas Cadabam, daughters Neha Cadabam and Divya Cadabam were also present.
