Tragic Sunday: Five youths meet watery grave at Balamuri, Chiklihole, Suvarnavathi

Mysuru:  Yesterday turned out to be a tragic Sunday with five youths meeting watery grave in separate incidents at various places.

While two youths were drowned at Balamuri in Srirangapatna taluk, two youths met watery grave at Chiklihole Dam in Kodagu and another youth was drowned at Suvarnavathi Reservoir in Chamarajanagar.

Balamuri: Two youths were drowned in Cauvery River at Balamuri in Srirangapatna taluk. The deceased youths are Ajith (19) and Shivu (19), both from Gandhinagar in Mysuru.

Ajith and Shivu, who had gone to Balamuri along with six friends, ventured into the water and were swimming, when they drowned.

A case has been registered at KRS Police Station in this regard.

Chiklihole: Two boys, who had gone to Chiklihole Reservoir backwaters for a swim, have met their water graves.

The deceased are Nandish (19), son of Subramani and a resident of Kambibane village, who was pursuing his 10th standard at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Residential School at Bhagamandala and Pavan (19), son of Mahadevu and a resident of Kodagarahalli village.

As it was holidays, Nandish, along with four of his friends, had come to Chiklihole Reservoir backwaters. At about 4.30 pm, all of them ventured into the water for a swim but Nandish and Pavan were drowned. Suntikoppa Police, who have registered a case, are investigating.

Suvarnavathi Reservoir: A 20-year-old youth, who had gone to the reservoir along with his friends to celebrate the birthday of one of his friends, was drowned when he stepped into the water for a bath.

The deceased is Sachin (20), son of Mahadevaiah. A native of Mallaiahnapura village, he was residing at Ramasamudra Layout and was working at a two-wheeler showroom near Jalahalli Hundi in Chamarajanagar.

Ramasamudra Sub-Inspector Puttaswamy and staff, who rushed to the spot on receiving information, conducted preliminary investigation and have registered a case.
