Mysuru: ‘Nadabrahma tadaanandam adviteeyam upaasmahe,’ I praise Naadabrahma which itself is the ultimate bliss. Saptaswara which is the base of Shastriya Sangeetha derived from the pranava OM kaara, connects a man to his soul. Such divine art in the form of Dasarapada through saint poets reached to every common man. One such saint poet was Kanakadasa. Nadavidyalaya –  Academy of Music and Dance, in its ‘Nadopasana,’ celebration of 11th annual day, paid a tribute to the great soul through Sangeetha-Roopaka ‘Kanakadasamrutha.’

Nadopasana began with Shankha nada followed by  invocation song ‘Gajamukha vandisuve’ on Lord Ganesha. The programme was inaugurated by Sangeetha Sevanidhi K.S.N. Prasad, Guru Vid. M.S. Naveen,  Guru Vidu. Mithra Naveen. Later chief guest K.S.N. Prasad took few minutes to enlighten the students through his talk. Soon after which pillari geethe, sanchari geethe and nottuswara were presented on keyboard and vocal by sub-junior / junior students of Nadavidyalaya. Master Yeashas N. Kashyap accompanied them on flute.

Soon after this, Sangeetha-Roopaka ‘Kanakadasamrutha’ started with ‘Namamma Sharade’ on Lord Ganapathi set to Hamsadhwani Raga Aditala.  Followed by ‘Hoova taruvara manege’ in Bhimpalas raga aditala, ‘Dasa Dasara Maneya Dasanu Dasa’ set to Hindola Raga Aditala. Concert continued with ‘Varava kodu enage’ on devi Saraswathi in tillang                  raga aditala.

Sangeetha-Roopaka continued with famous Devaranama ‘Baro Krishnayya’ in raga Malika aditala then with ‘Yadavaraya Brindavanadolu’ in raga Malika aditala which mesmerised the audience. Next Devaranama was ‘Ellaru maduvudu hottegagi’ set to Mayamalavagaula raga ekatala which is composed in folk form. The next beautiful composition was ‘Eesha ninna charana bhajane’ in Vaasanthi raga aditala took the audience to another world. Another mesmerising Devaranama ‘Bagilanu teredu seveyanu kodo hariye’  requesting Krishna’s darshana set to raga hindola aditala was presented. In the last, Sangeetha-Roopaka was concluded with ‘Estu dina ee vaikuntha’  set to raga Shuddha Dhanyasi ekatala. The Sangeetha-Roopaka was melodiously presented by senior/vidwath students of Nadavidyalaya.

They were accompanied by Vid. Sharath on keyboard, Vid. Jagadish on tabla, Vid. Raghavendra Prasad on rhythm pad.  The audience appreciated and encouraged students with their applause. The music concert was a treat to all, which turned a normal evening into a magical one.
