Mysuru: Trin Trin, country’s first Public Bicycle Sharing (PBS) initiative started in Mysuru, has won a special award under the ‘Best Non-Motorised Transport Project’ by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, New Delhi.
The award will be given by the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India and the Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development, Government of Telangana, at the valedictory session of the 10th Urban Mobility India Conference and Exhibition to be held at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre on Nov. 6.
According to a communication to Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Commissioner G. Jagadeesha, Trin Trin has been chosen for Best Practice Project in urban transport by the Awards Selection Committee of the Ministry.
In all, 45 docking stations have been set up across the city to allow people to borrow bicycles to commute from one place to another with a total of 450 bicycles made available at reasonable fee and 650 to 700 persons are borrowing the bicycles everyday.
