Even as the indefinite stir launched by Truckers entered the fourth day today, the city residents are yet to feel the pinch as the supply of essential commodities have not been affected.
The Mysuru District Lorry Owners Association and host of other Truck and Goods Vehicle Association have called for an indefinite stir demanding roll back of hiked Third Party Insurance premium and an end to toll collection on highways, among others.
The Mysuru District Lorry Owners Association President B. Kodandaramu, visited Lorry Stands across the city yesterday and sought cooperation from the lorry owners for intensifying the strike as their demands are not met with the lorry owners hinting out intensifying the stir, Devaraja Market Tenants Association President Mahadev said till now there has been no problem in vegetable supplies to the market. But the supplies will be severely hit if the lorry owners decide to stop transportation of essential commodities.
Also, traders and shop owners will be badly affected, if the stir continues for few more days, he said and added that the Government should find a solution to the truckers’ problems at the earliest.
Mysuru Industries Association General Secretary Suresh Kumar Jain said that the stir had not impacted the Industrial Sector so far. However, the continuation of the stir for a few more days, would severely affect the working of Industries as they would run out of raw material stocks.
Also, the Industrial Sector have to face huge losses if there is any serious fluctuations in the demand and supply chain, he said.
Jain appealed the Government to find a solution to the truckers’ problems in the better interest of Industries, Trade and Commerce.
