Tusker tramples forest guard

Hanagod: A forest guard was killed on the spot when a raging tusker attacked a group of men while on border duty near Hunsur late last night. 

The incident occurred at Veeranahosalli Range near G.M. Halli where a team of forest guards and watchers were stationed to prevent wild elephants from raiding the crops grown by the villagers. The village is located on the fringes of Nagarahole Tiger Reserve. 

The team was guarding the area after midnight and all of a sudden a wild tusker charged at the group and trampled forest guard Hanumanthu. He could not escape and was killed on the spot. The enraged elephant then charged at the others but they managed to run. This morning, Nagarahole Director Mahesh Kumar, ACF Satish RFO Namam Narayana Nayak visited the spot.
