Two chain-snatchers held

Mysuru: The CCB Police, who arrested two chain-snatchers have recovered 33 grams of gold jewellery allegedly stolen by them.

The arrested have been identified as Faisal Ahmed alias Moosa, 26, a resident of Rahmathnagar in R.T. Nagar, Bengaluru and Mohammad Tausif, 23, a resident of Shantinagar in Mysuru.

Acting on a tip off, the Police took the two into custody when they were moving about in a suspicious manner near Cake Point Bakery on Eidgah Road, Mandi Mohalla, on Aug. 11.

During interrogation, the duo confessed to have snatched a chain from a woman in V.V. Puram Police Station limits and a chain from another woman in Saraswathipuram Police Station limits, following  which two gold chains, totally weighing 33 grams, were recovered from them.

One of the accused, Faisal Ahmed, was an accused in a murder case registered in Udayagiri Police Station while the other accused was involved in a honey-trapping case registered in the same Police Station.

The two had come out on bail recently, it is learnt.
