Two-day Earth Mela from tomorrow

Mysore/Mysuru: The 2nd edition of Earth Mela, a unique event that brings together green entrepreneurs, enthusiasts and local communities under one roof to promote and embrace eco-friendly practices, will be held on Aug.19 and 20 from 11 am to  7.30 pm at Phoenix International Academy, KRS Road, next to Mandovi Motors.

The two-day event provides a platform for businesses dedicated to sustainability and offers attendees a unique opportunity to explore and adopt environmentally conscious lifestyles.

The Earth Mela stalls will feature organic, hand-made and home-made products including pickles, eco-friendly cotton/jute bags, freshly baked cookies, hand-crafted goods, packed food and an impressive selection of plants.

Interactive workshops: Engaging workshops will be hosted throughout the event, allowing attendees to experience sustainable practices first-hand. Activities like cotton yarn spinning, talks on making kitchen composting and converting waste into wealth; presentations by children of schools working on green projects, like waste segregations etc. will be part of the Mela.

Talks: Shamsundar Subbarao, HoD of NIE-Centre for Renewable Energy & Sustainable Technology (NIE-CREST), will deliver a talk on significance of renewable energy in today’s world, shedding light on the path to a greener and more sustainable practices at home for better future.

Rekha Rohit, Founder of SWACH, will give a presentation on making your kitchen composting easy at home.

This will be followed by a presentation by BALYA Foundation children on waste segregation; Yarn spinning by the community of spinners, to demonstrate, how spinning as an art of not only making Khadi but becoming self-reliant in our clothing.
