Two drown during Ganesha idols immersion at Mandya

Mandya:  In separate incidents, two youths were drowned during Ganesha idols immersion at Mandya last night.

In the first incident, a 20-year-old youth was drowned while immersing the idol of Ganesha at a canal in Srirampura village in Srirangapatna taluk.

The deceased is Varun, a native of Mandya, who had come to his relative’s house in the village. Srirangapatna Police, who have registered a case in this regard, are investigating.

In the second case, a student of Cauvery Institute of Engineering and a resident of Shivalli, who had gone to the VC Canal for Ganesha idol immersion, was reportedly drowned after he was swept away in the canal.

Rural Police, who have registered a case in this regard, have launched a search to ffish outthe body.
