Valuables, cash worth about Rs.30 lakh stolen

Mysuru:  Miscreants, who burgled two houses located at RMP quarters in Kuvempunagar, have decamped with gold ornaments, silver articles and cash worth about Rs.30 lakh from the two houses.

The burglaries took place at the houses belonging to Sadhana Prasad and Sreenivasa Rao at Brahmaputra Block in the quarters.

The burglars have decamped with gold ornaments worth about Rs.26 lakh, silver articles worth about Rs.2.5 lakh and Rs.2.6 lakh cash from the two houses.

On Dec.13 evening, Sadhana Prasad left for Bengaluru, from where he left for Patna the next day. On Dec.14 evening, the neighbour of Prasad, calls Prasad’s mother over the phone and informs her about the burglary. Prasad’s mother, who came to his house in Mysuru on Dec.15, inspected the house and found gold jewellery worth about Rs.19.10 lakh, silver articles worth about Rs.6,000 and Rs.2 lakh cash kept in the house missing.

Meanwhile, Sreenivasa Rao too had left for Tirupathi along with his family on Dec.13.

The next day evening, Rao receives a call from his neighbour Krishnakumar, who informs him about the burglary.

When Rao came back to his house on Dec.15, he finds the door broken and on entering the house, he found document papers, clothes and other things scattered and on further inspection, he finds gold ornaments worth about Rs.7 lakh, silver articles worth about Rs.2.5 lakh and Rs.60,000 cash kept in the almirah stolen.

Ashokapuram Police visited the two houses and registered separate cases based on  the complaints.

It may be recalled that about five months back, two houses allotted to Gopalakrishna and Sagai Das in DFRL Quarters were burgled. The burglars had decamped with gold ornaments and cash worth lakhs of rupees from the two houses. Now, the burglaries in RMP Quarters have taken place in the similar way.

Though there are tight security arrangements at both the quarters, it is to be known how the burglars got past the security and committed the crime?
