Two houses burgled in DFRL Quarters

July 23, 2018

Mysuru:  The incident of miscreants burgling two houses at DFRL Quarters in city and decamping with cash and valuables worth lakhs of rupees has come to light lately.

The houses belonged to Gopalakrishna and Sagay Das, employees of DFRL, who had locked their houses and had gone out along with their families.

The burglars, who gained entry into the houses by breaking open the locks, have decamped with gold jewellery and cash and the exact amount and gold ornaments is yet to be known.

On Saturday morning, Rajendran, In-charge of the Quarters, who noticed the lock broken at Gopalakrishna’s house, called the latter over the phone and informed the matter. Gopalakrishna is said to have told Rajendran that he had kept gold jewels and cash in a box at a room following which Rajendran entered the house and inspected the place and came to know that the house was burgled.

Meanwhile, neighbours who noticed the lock of Sagay Das’ house broken, informed the matter to security in-charge Nanjegowda over the phone, who immediately rushed to the house of Sagay Das and found the lock broken and on entering the house, Nanjegowda found the house ransacked and informed the matter to Sagay Das over the phone. Sagay Das told Najengowda that he had kept cash and gold jewels in the house.

Following the burglaries, Rajendran and Nanjegowda have lodged a complaint at Nazarbad Police Station. They informed the Police that the burglars had entered the quarters by cutting the barbed wire which was fixed on the compound in the north side.

The houses of Gopalakrishna and Sagay Das are housed in Type-2 Complex. While Gopalakrishna’s house number is 10, Sagay Das’ house number is 15 which are close by. They had locked the house on July 20 and had gone to their native place along with their families. As the burglaries took place on the same day in the night, the burglars, only after making sure that no one was present in the houses, had burgled the two houses. Though DFRL quarters has tight security arrangements, two houses being burgled there has created a sense of fear among other residents in the quarters.

Nazarbad Police, who have registered a case in this regard, are investigating.
