Two persons commit suicide

August 1, 2017

Mysuru: In separate incidents, two persons committed suicide by hanging in city.

In the first incident, a man, who had gone to his in-laws’ house to meet his wife and kid in an inebriated condition and was asked to sleep in a separate room, committed suicide by hanging self in the room of the house in Vidyaranyapuram Police limits here yesterday.

The deceased has been identified as Govinda (27), a resident of Rayanahundi. Govinda had married Lakshmi, a resident of Kanakagiri here about one-and-a-half-years ago. Lakshmi had gone to her parents’ house for delivery and was staying there, it is learnt.

On Sunday night, Govinda went to his in-laws’ house to see his wife and his kid. As he was fully drunk, his wife Lakshmi picked up a quarrel, which was stopped after the family members intervened. The family members then asked Govinda to sleep in a separate room.

Depressed over the issue, Govinda committed suicide by hanging self in the room. When Govinda did not open the door of the room the next day, the family members broke open the door only to see Govinda hanging.

Meanwhile, the relatives on Govinda, who rushed to the house in Kanakagiri, after hearing the news of his death, accused the family members of Lakshmi of being responsible for Govinda’s death, which led to wordy duel. Vidyaranyapuram Police, who rushed to the spot on being informed, shifted the body of Govinda to MMC&RI mortuary for post-mortem and brought the situation under control.

A case has been registered at Vidyaranyapuram Police Station in this regard.

In the second incident, a mechanic, who had taken loans and unable to repay the same, committed suicide by hanging self at B.M. Sri Nagar in city.

The deceased mechanic has been identified as Fayaz (34), who owned a garage in B.M. Sri Nagar. Fayaz had taken loans and was unable to repay it which may have led him to take the extreme step, said Metagalli Police, who have registered a case in this regard.
