Tyre burst: Lucky escape for bus passengers

January 28, 2019

Passengers travelling in a City Bus from Railway Station side had a miraculous escape when the rear tyre of the bus burst with a loud bang near Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa Circle (Metropole Circle) here this morning.

The driver, using his presence of mind, drove the bus straight and brought it to a halt in front of Maharani’s Hostel on JLB Road. If the tyre had burst while the bus was taking a turn from JLB Road to Hunsur Road, a major mishap would have taken place, said eyewitnesses.

Former Mayor M.J. Ravikumar, Corporators M.U. Subbaiah and Prameela, who were present at the birth anniversary celebrations of Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa near the Circle, rushed to the spot and examined the tyre which had burst. They blamed the authorities concerned for plying the bus with bald tyres and said that they would speak to the KSRTC authorities in this regard.
