U.M. Shanthappa (93), a senior freedom fighter and a resident of Aishwarya Nagar near Kuvempunagar ‘N’ Block, passed away yesterday in city. He had served as Janata Party Krishnaraja Block President.

He leaves behind son U.S. Mahesh, proprietor of Roopa Prakashana, three daughters, daughter-in-law, sons-in-law, grand-children and a host of relatives and friends.

Last rites were held at Veerashaiva Burial Grounds in Vidyaranyapuram this afternoon.
