Mysuru: Union Minister of State for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Tourism Suresh Gopi visited the residence of renowned violin exponent Dr. Mysore Manjunath in the city on Sunday.
Gopi, also a popular Malayalam actor, exchanged information over classical music and several other aspects related to various art forms, during his visit.
Having known Mysore Manjunath and his brother Mysore Nagaraj, also a violin exponent, for the past several years, Gopi, who was in the city to take part in the valedictory of Mysuru Sangeetha Sugandha, a three-day event organised by the Union Ministry of Tourism and Union Ministry of Culture, that concluded on Sunday, at Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) Convocation Hall, had made a mention about his ties with violinist duo, during his address at the ceremony.
Mysore Manjunath said, “Suresh Gopi, a MP from Thrissur Constituency in Kerala, is also a good actor and art lover, with a vast impression on music. He is also personally proud about my achievements. Known for his simple personality, he had called on me on Sunday and was with us for two hours and had lunch, besides having a fruitful interaction on many topics of common interest.”
He extensively discussed about classical music and its present condition, steps to encourage its progress further, the Centre’s initiatives, the exclusive programmes of Union Tourism Department in this regard, said Mysore Manjunath.
Besides, he also gleaned information about my foreign concerts and the experience, said Mysore Manjunath, who was congratulated by Gopi for having been recently nominated as the President of Sanskar Bharati.
