Union Transport Ministry official inspects Ring Road works

October 11, 2020

Mysore/Mysuru: I.K. Pandey, Director General (Road Development), Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, New Delhi, inspected various works in city yesterday.

Since Ring Road (RR) has come under the ambit of National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), steps had been taken to streamline traffic on this stretch of road. The NHAI has drawn up a plan to set right and develop accident spots including four railway underpass spots.

To inspect these ongoing works, Pandey was in the city and he was accompanied by Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha, MUDA Chairman H.V. Rajeev and others.

Simha told reporters that Rs.159 crore has been earmarked for pending works at four Railway underpass spots and development on Mysuru Ring Road. A new plan is required for the construction of grade separators at Royal Inn junction on KRS Road, Bandipallya junction on Nanjangud Road and T. Narasipur Road junction.

On this occasion, Rajeev appealed to the Director General to release funds to take up the construction of 104 km long Peripheral Ring Road on the outskirts of city as planned for the 2031 mega plan. The project required around 600 acres of land and the same had been identified. The proposed project will reduce pressure on the Ring Road that was built 15 years ago, as traffic density has now increased due to meeting of National, State and District Highways to the Ring Road.
